Now the temperature is starting to drop and we're heading into winter, it's getting difficult to not look and feel like a sack of potatoes wrapped up in our jumpers, hoodies, and coats. So, hopefully these ideas will help you find the balance between keeping warm and looking great!

Jumpers over summer dresses

Grab those summer dresses out the back of your wardrobe and dust them off, because you can make the most of your cute summer dresses all year round by layering a jumper over the top of them!

Turtle necks under everything

Tops like these are simple staples for the cold seasons. Throw on a turtleneck, roll neck, or funnel neck under anything from jumpers or cardigans to vest tops, summer dresses, or even a mini dress for a night out, to add a layer of warmth.

Smarten up your loungewear

If you've been living in your cosy loungewear or tracksuits to keep warm in your accommodation, just pop a blazer on top to instantly smarten up the look and turn your at-home 'fit into an outfit worthy of heading outside or to your lectures.

Style a skirt in winter

Sometimes all we want is to wear a skirt in the winter months without our legs freezing off! Buying a great pair of thigh-high or knee-high boots, like these from New Look, will make all your winter, skirt-related dreams come true!

Midi or maxi skirts are another solution to keeping warm while still wearing a skirt, especially if they're knit or jersey material! These skirts can be styled up for nights out and the many parties that the holiday season throws at you, or styled more casually for everyday wear.

The preppy look

Knitted vests are definitely popular right now, and an added bonus of this cute, preppy item is that they keep you warm!

Tights are an easy way to hold onto your body heat when you are out and about in cold temperatures, but instead of sticking to simple, plain black or skin coloured tights, why not branch out and try some patterned, coloured, or cable knit styles to add a little extra detail to your outfit?

Hopefully this article has given you some ideas to spruce up your winter wardrobe, and help you look less like a sack of potatoes or a snowman in all those layers. If an extra jumper isn't doing the job, we've also got some handy ways to heat up your cold student house on the cheap too.
