Being a student comes with budgeting properly for the first time and learning how to manage your money.


When you live away from home for the first time, you'll come to realise how expensive some regular household items are— toilet roll, we're looking at you (and yes, this is an essential item and you can't get around not having to buy it).


Trust us, it can be challenging to balance a social life with your utilities but luckily, as a student, there are plenty of ways you can score some student freebies, including food and drink, just because you're a student.


So, read on to find out more about all the student freebies that you can get as a fresher.


Food & Drink student freebies


1. Greggs


Sausage rolls are the best way to cure a hangover. If you're a Nando's superfan, you'll already know about this hack, but a Nando's card is a must-have as a student to sign-up for. You can earn rewards every time you visit and points mean freebies! The more you spend the more you'll earn meaning you can grab some free food if you're a keen Nando's visitor.


4. TGI Friday's


By downloading the TGI app, you'll be able to earn rewards to exchange for free food and drink!


All you have to do is download the app to sign up. On your first download of the app, you'll be able to claim a free dessert and you'll collect stripes as you spend in the restaurant. For example, when you hit 50 stripes you'll get free mozzarella sticks and if you hit 200 you can redeem a steak or ribs.


5. Birthday Freebies


PizzaExpress, Krispy Kreme, Frankie & Benny's, Barburrito, Las Iguana's, Hotel Chocolat and All Bar One are just some of the places that offer birthday freebies once you sign up to their mailing lists. Obviously, it might not be your birthday during freshers but there's normally nothing from stopping you from putting down a fake birthday (you might just want to check the place you're getting a freebie from won't ask for ID).

Make sure you're prepared this freshers. Terrence Higgins Trust are offering people free condoms from their local services, either to pick up in person or in some areas, by post. You can order them and they will come in discreet packaging.


You can also sign up for a C card which will give you access to free condoms if you're under 25. Just Google C Card for your local area, and you can sign up.


7. Origins


Bag yourself a free mini Origins facial and sample of their glow-boosting face mask by booking a session at one of the participating stores.
