Make a note of this list for when you're doing your shopping!

If you're doing Veganuary, or you're trying to transition into a vegan diet you may be surprised to know how many accidentally vegan foods you can get from supermarkets. While there are some amazing plant-based brands out there specialising in making vegan food for vegans you don't always have to look out for new brands and alternatives as there are plenty of foods you probably already know and love that are accidentally vegan.

Accidentally vegan foods contain no animal products, making them fully suitable for vegans, however, these products are not made specifically for vegans or with vegans in mind- they just happen to be vegan, which is great news for anyone who doesn't want to give up some of their fave foods.

Here are the top 10 food items that are accidentally vegan:

1. Oreos

Oreos have been accidentally vegan for years, making them a staple of many vegan diets. All flavours are fully suitable for vegans, so you won't have to give them up if you're transitioning.

2. Hula Hoops

Hula Hoops are one of the many crisps that are accidentally vegan (but only the original ready-salted flavour, which let's face it is the best flavour anyway).

3. Ritz Crackers

This surprises a lot of people as Ritz crackers taste like they should have cheese in them, but they don't which means you can continue to enjoy these as a vegan.

4. Party Rings

If you're feeling nostalgic about your childhood, you won't have to miss out on Party Rings as they contain no animal products making them fully vegan!

5. Jammie Dodgers

Another childhood fave, last year Jammie Dodgers changed their recipe to be fully vegan! This includes the classic raspberry flavour and all of the varieties like chocolate, strawberry and banana.

6. Pot Noodles

The ultimate student dinner is vegan. Well, only some of them but some is better than none. Bombay Bad Boy, Chinese Chow Mein, Beef & Tomato, Piri Piri Chicken, Sweet & Sour, BBQ Pulled Pork and Sticky Rib Pot Noodles are all suitable for vegans. New infusions flavours and Piri Piri Chicken and Doner Kebab flavours are vegan too and are clearly labelled.

7. Skips

If you're not willing to give up crisps you don't have to worry as Skips, despite being prawn cocktail flavour also happen to be accidentally vegan.

8. Fruit Pastilles

Fruit Pastilles and Jelly Tots have an updated recipe as of last year and are now proudly vegan. The packaging is clearly labelled as suitable for vegans, which means you won't have to do a skim check of the ingredients to double-check.

9. Chocolate Chip Hob Nobs

Regular Hob Nobs and the chocolate chip ones are both accidentally vegan, but it's important to note that any other variation including the chocolate-covered ones aren't- although there's nothing stopping you from spreading a bit of vegan chocolate spread on the plain ones.

10. Weetabix

If you still want to get your cereal fix, most of the Weetabix range is vegan including Weetos! The mini Weetabix as well as the chocolate one are all accidentally vegan, so you can still enjoy a bowl in the morning.
